Types of Space Heater

We sell a variety of types of space heater. This page explains the various types and has links to products of varying sizes and price points.

Powered by propane gas (propane mix), these heaters have the widest size range of all types of space heater. To run them, connect them up to your propane supply (all units come with the necessary propane hose and regulator), plug them into an electrical supply (for the fan and safety systems) and stand back. These are construction grade heaters designed for life in commercial applications - they are not suitable for home use.

These units are powered by diesel and all of them have built in fuel tanks - (click the more info buttons to find out what other fuels can be used with each unit as all of these heaters can run on a variety of fuels). Like the propane models, they all also require an electrical connection to power the fan and safety mechanisms, but the diesel models also require electricity to power the compressors they use to pump the fuel. Like their propane counterparts, these space heaters are commercial/construction grade and are not suitable for domestic use.

These units are similar to the diesel models except that they are finished in stainless steel and also run on kerosene.

Direct fired models are the cheapest design to manufacture. The fuel is burned to generate heat and this heated air is pushed out the front of the unit by the built-in fan. The space heaters shown here without a fuel tank run on propane, the others run on a variety of liquid based fuels (such as diesel, kerosene, oil, paraffin etc).

Indirect fired space heaters differ from direct fired units in that they separate the clean heated air and the exhaust combustion gases - sending the exhaust fumes upwards via the chimney and forcing the clean hot air out the front of the unit. Indirect fired models cost more than the direct design but the presence of the combustion chamber allows them to produce a completely clean output - unlike the direct fired models.
